October marked the beginning of Manufacturing Month in Ramsey County, and after being highlighted in the Ramsey County Workforce News: Made In Ramsey County, Innovize proudly welcomed more than 60 attendees made up of job seekers and career coaches to its campus for a special event. Visitors had the opportunity to tour the manufacturing floor, meet skilled operators, and attend a presentation on the impactful work happening.
Rebecca (Becky) Milbrant, a representative of the Ramsey County Workforce Innovation Board, joined the event and spoke about the critical role manufacturing plays in Ramsey County’s economy, emphasizing that “manufacturing is a cornerstone of our local economy.” With 650 manufacturing companies in the county, Milbrant highlighted the importance of workforce development and how Innovize’s efforts have contributed to the county’s broader goals. Also present was Liz Moscatelli, Executive Director of Vadnais Heights Economic Development Corporation (VHEDC) and nonprofit organizations such as Hubbs Center ABE, East Side Employment Exchange, and Hmong American Partnership (HAP).
During the event, attendees learned about Innovize’s commitment to improving lives. Innovize has positively impacted more than 300 million lives in 2023 alone. The job seekers were led through the manufacturing floor by Innovize’s Director of Manufacturing, Rick Pratt, in which he shared that at the time of the tour, half of the operators actively working on the floor were enrolled in Innovize’s apprenticeship program.
A significant moment of the day came when a special proclamation was presented to Innovize by Milbrant on behalf of Ramsey County. This proclamation, which was handed to Innovize’s HR Director, Ethel Garcia, recognizes Innovize’s contributions to the industry and its impact on the workforce. Manufacturing provides nearly 29,000 jobs in Ramsey County alone, and contributes $57.2 billion to Minnesota’s economy.
